Purpose: The purpose of this course is to give students an introduction to a foreign language so that they will be able to make an informed decision on which language to take the following year.
Method of teaching: Spanish 7 is taught using a method called TPR Storytelling (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling or TPRS). TPRS lessons use a mixture of reading and storytelling to help students learn a foreign language in a classroom setting.
Grading: Grading in Spanish 7 is based on a point system. In general you will be graded in the following ways: quizzes, projects/class assignments, homework and class participation. If you miss or lose any assignments please check my website for copies.
Homework expectation: Students will be given homework in order to reinforce concepts in class. When homework is assigned it should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
Duolingo : Duolingo is a free online immersion program that is used in class to help reinforce skills.

Class participation: It is very important to participate in class when learning a foreign language. Pronunciation of words is a key component in ALL foreign languages. Class participation is NOT based on your ability to pronounce or remember words. Class participation is based on your willingness to try speaking in Spanish, completing in-class assignments, coming to class on time and prepared and respect. Respect means that you are not having side conversations during a lesson and that you are not teasing other students.
